Motion

Motion illustrates the “etiäinen”, the living shadow of a person that passes before us, doing
everything we will do. The etiäinen reflects how the essence of time has been experienced in
ancient times, how man navigates through time. The Motion object is a sister to Majuri’s
sculpture titled Etiäinen. The glass of the Motion sculpture is solid-colored pink and the inner
layer is neodymium glass. The two colors are very close to each other but change under
different lighting conditions. In the work, the same image is repeated several times around the
object – and broken during the glass blowing process. Fishbone parquet and bubbles can be
seen at the bottom. The shape of the sculpture is vessel – because pots and vases are ancient
means of storytelling.
